YES AND is the golden rule of improv and there are hundreds of activities that can be practiced using it. The rule requires listening and speaking up, is inherently collaborative, and promotes positive relationships. All of which we need in healthcare and mental health care! And once you dip you toe into a YES AND experience you can, if you are so inclined, dive in to the world of applied or medical improv.
YES AND Experiences
You can learn more in this recent KevinMD post: “YES AND” a vital, versatile, & visionary leadership tool! You can join our mailing list and access many articles, videos and podcasts to explore at Medical Improv Events & Resources here.

YES AND…then what?
Once you’ve gotten a basic understanding, you’ll appreciate many the value many MANY possibilities. You can always google “medical improv”, take a class, listen to a podcast, and or buy a book! Here are a few links to some of my colleagues in the field: Michael Smith, MD, Candace Campbell, DNP, and Margot Escott, MSW, LCSW. We all know how amazing facilitated improv can be and we all have different offerings.
I collaborate with Ellen Schnur and Jim Mecir at ImprovTalk.com! (Very fun to work with a Corporate Trainer and former Major League Baseball Pitcher!) We have done some unique work with IPEC students and faculty, webinars for leaders, and much more.
One of my major focuses (foci?) is train the trainer for healthcare and mental health care leaders! With a small investment of time and $$, interested leaders can learn 5- 6 time-efficient, engaging, and fun activities to bring back to their teams, groups etc.

Thanks, Candy! AND being fun, fast, and effective are all vitally important in healthcare.
